For our office in Tokyo, Japan, we are looking for a Regulatory Affairs / Product Stewardship Manager

OVERVIEW

The Regulatory Affairs / Product Stewardship Manager oversees project coordination and manages various regulatory activities. This role involves close collaboration with clients, authorities, Knoell partners, and colleagues while ensuring effective communication.

 We are seeking a skilled Scientist to manage and oversee regulatory strategies and projects for Chemical Products within the Japanese market and across the Asia-Pacific region.

 The ideal candidate will combine a deep technical understanding of chemicals registration and chemical related regulatory frameworks (e.g., CSCL, Japanese GHS/ISHL requirements) with strong project management, client advisory, and team playing expertise. This could also include experience with Food Contact Material and/or Biocidal and Crop Protection products.

YOUR ROLE

  • Coordination and management of a variety of projects within regulatory affairs and product stewardship.
  • Communication with clients and authorities as required, with general supervision.
  • Prepare, review, and submit regulatory application documents in accordance with Japanese and international standards.
  • Collaborating with knoell´s technical teams on a regional and global level.
  • Monitor and share emerging regulatory developments in Japan and APAC related to Chemicals / Food Contact Materials / Biocides / Crop Protection.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for Japanese regulatory requirements within the global knoell community.
  • Support business development through industry events, conferences, and client meetings in Japan.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Agricultural Sciences, Toxicology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Japanese chemicals regulations (e.g., CSCL, GHS/ISHL).
  • Direct experience with Japanese authorities.
  • Experience in chemical regulatory affairs, product stewardship, or EHS preferred.
  • International work experience preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and logical thinking skills.
  • Fluent in Japanese (native or equivalent) and excellent English communication skills.
  • Strong time management and teamwork abilities.
  • Attention to detail and proactive mindset.
